Great Lakes Education Project Proudly Endorses 18 Candidates for State House of Representatives
9 Incumbents, 9 New Candidates Earn GLEP’s Backing
LANSING –The Great Lakes Education Project (GLEP) today proudly endorsed 18 candidates for the state House of Representatives who have demonstrated a real and lasting commitment to Michigan students, and reforms to Michigan’s public education system that put the needs of students first.
“The Great Lakes Education Project is proud and excited to stand with these men and women because they stand with Michigan’s kids,” said GLEP Executive Director Beth DeShone. “They know that every child is different and that they deserve schools that put them first, not the education bureaucracy. GLEP looks forward to working with each of these candidates to advance policies that promote educational freedom for teachers and students across Michigan.”
Non-incumbent candidates endorsed today include:
19th District: Livonia public school teacher Martha Ptashnik
45th District: Mark Tisdel, City Councilman and former Council President from Rochester Hills
47th District: Meghan Reckling, owner of Victory Graphics and Consulting and MMason Designs in Livingston County
56th District: T.C. Clements, a small business owner and former police officer
61st District: Bronwyn Haltom, a small business owner from Kalamazoo
70th District: Patrick Outman, a construction worker and cattle farmer from Six Lakes
73rd District: Bryan Posthumus, co-owner of West Michigan Hopyards
83rd District: Andrew Beeler, a decorated veteran of the U.S. Navy and graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy awarded the Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, and a 2-time winner of the Navy’s Junior Officer Leadership Award
104th District: John Roth, a tourism industry leader from Traverse City
